Abundance Capital, a nonprofit venture philanthropy platform, has named Kate Dabbs the organization’s first chief community officer.

In the new role, Dabbs is charged with strengthening and expanding connections within the organization’s network of philanthropic donors and investors and its community partners, according to a news release. As the key connector and impact storyteller, she will be dedicated to working with the investor network to amplify the effectiveness of its brand of renewable philanthropy.

“Kate brings a rare combination of deeply rooted , strategic communications, and philanthropic insight,” said Mike Gatchell, CEO and co-founder of Abundance Capital, said in the release. “I’ve had the privilege of serving alongside Kate in multiple roles. I know firsthand the passion, creativity and integrity she brings to her work. We are thrilled to have her on the team.”

Her career has spanned nonprofit, philanthropic, corporate and entrepreneurial sectors in Greenville. Most recently, she co-led a local marketing agency, launched and directed her own strategic communications firm, and managed marketing and operations for Coldwell Banker Caine. Before those roles, Dabbs facilitated development communications for Furman University and marketing/fundraising for Greenville Forward.

A Furman University alumna who later earned her master’s degree from , Dabbs has been a committed civic leader serving on several nonprofit and foundation boards, including the Community Foundation of Greenville, the release stated.

“When people think of capital, they often think only of money,” Dabbs said in the release. “But at Abundance, donors give more than money, forging meaningful connections between the projects they support that are as valuable as the financial capital they provide.”

Based in Greenville, Abundance Capital is a nonprofit (501c3) donor-advised fund platform that provides a range of ways for donors to invest in the causes and communities they care about charitably.
