Camp Hall named top U.S. industrial park by report

Camp Hall Commerce Park in has claimed the title as the No. 1 industrial park in the nation by Business Facilities Magazine’s 21st Ranking Report. 

The report assesses economic development and location leaders, placing ‘s Camp Hall in the top 10 for the past six years, according to a news release.

In the most recent economic impact study, Camp Hall contributed $3.8 billion to South Carolina and $3.4 billion to the Charleston tri-county region. According to the study, the industrial park is expected to generate $7.9 billion for the state and $7.3 billion for the region once fully developed in 2035.

“Being recognized for developing the best industrial park in the nation is an incredible honor,” Jimmy Staton, Santee Cooper president and CEO, said in the release. “This achievement reflects years of planning and execution, strong partnerships, and a shared vision for creating a dynamic hub for industry, innovation and a workforce that also elevates the community and environment.”

The collection of manufacturing, logistic and technology companies in the industrial park have connectivity to major highways, rail lines and the Port of Charleston. According to the release, Volvo Cars USA established manufacturing operations at Camp Hall in 2018 and Redwood Materials broke ground on a $3.5 billion project for its operations this year.

Camp Hall has 65% of its site devoted to land preservation for natural growth, wildlife habitats and features developed to maintain and improve a healthy ecosystem, the release said. 

The industrial park also offers retail business, a Refuel food, gas and convenience station, basketball courts, pickleball courts, a disc golf course, exercise equipment and a food truck area.
