A historic home on Charleston’s Battery has broken a sales record.
The John Ravenel House, located 5 East Battery St. in Charleston, was sold for $18.25 million, according to a news release from The Cassina Group. (The previous record was $15.25 million).
In addition to the sale of the house, a separate bill of sale was executed for $3 million to address fixtures and select contents in the house, the release said. Combined, the sale came to $21.25 million.
The sale shattered previous records in the Charleston Trident MLS, according to the release.
Situated on the High Battery of the South of Broad neighborhood, the 9,407-square-foot Ravenel house was built in 1848 with views of the Charleston Harbour and Fort Sumter, according to the release.

From the Cassina Group, Allen and Scotty Brisson led the sale with a team of realtors and marketers, according to the release. The group secured the contract in 39 days.

With 52 Realtors, The Cassina Group had a banner year in 2024, achieving nearly $586 million in closed transactions, according to the release. For 2025, it is on pace for another strong year with over $127 million in closed sales through the end of February 2025, the release stated.
