After 40 years with SeamonWhiteside, Stuart Whiteside, a founder and namesake of the company, has retired from his full-time position with the team.
Whiteside will remain active in the company as a part-time adviser on the board of directors and leadership team for guidance and mentorship on projects and initiatives, according to a news release.
“Forty years ago, my dad and Stuart created something truly special, blending civil engineering with landscape architecture within a company that culturally reflected their personalities and high level of care,” Russ Seamon, president of SeamonWhiteside, said in the release. “Stuart has been mentoring the next level of leadership, including myself, and passing the torch in a way that embraces that culture while continuing to elevate the site design experience.”
Through his time with the company, Whiteside has been behind the scenes of popular Lowcountry projects such as the I’On community and Mount Pleasant Town Centre, according to the release. Over Whiteside’s SW+ career, the company has expanded into offices throughout North and South Carolina.
Whiteside’s legacy in the company will be honored with conference rooms dedicated to both founders, the release said.
“Stuart’s legacy is enduring,” Seamon said in the release. “He built a company that’s not only successful but also positioned to thrive for decades to come. I speak for all employees of SeamonWhiteside when I say that we are forever grateful for what Stuart has done in co-founding this company and positioning it for future success as an organization that continues to prioritize caring for its people, its clients and the communities it serves.”
According to the release, Whiteside will pass the torch on his day-to-day responsibilities but looks forward to traveling more with his wife Francie, visiting with his grandchildren and playing golf.
