South Carolina 500 |

Catherine Hayes

Catherine Hayes serves as director of customer solutions for South Carolina Research Authority, a 40-employee organization navigating artificial intelligence’s transformation from vertical to horizontal technology as companies struggle to assess AI startup value and access investment capital.

A Missouri University of Science and Technology graduate with a bachelor’s degree in engineering management and mechanical engineering, Hayes earned her master’s degree in industrial technology from Eastern Kentucky University.

“Be where you are or you’re no place,” she says, emphasizing focus on present execution while planning for the future.

Her first position as engineering intern at Alcoa in Davenport, Iowa, taught her to engage manufacturing operators and technicians to improve processes and secure workforce buy-in for operational changes.

Hayes serves on Michelin North America Innovation Center Advisory Board and Clemson University Advisory Committee for Center for Connected Multimodal Mobility.

She defines success through delivering creative solutions to customers and colleagues who trust her judgment, developing strategy to align organizational priorities and leading diverse partners toward common goals.
