A little of Brooklyn, N.Y., is making its debut in Mount Pleasant.
Following the success of two Millers All Day locations, the same ownership team is bringing a new restaurant called Jimmy Rosso to town, with an anticipated opening date this summer.
According to a news release, the restaurant will have Brooklyn-inspired pizza with thin crust and a focus on ingredient simplicity.
“We wanted to understand what makes great pizza great — not to mimic a specific style, but to learn from the best and bring those principles home,” Jimmy Rosso founder Nathan Thurston said in the release.
The name Jimmy Rosso stems from Jimmy Red Corn milled in Marsh Hen Millin Edisto Island, which is run by Greg Johnsman, co-owner of Millers All Day and Jimmy Rosso. According to the release, the team plans to incorporate the red corn into the menu for lunch and dinner.
Jimmy Rosso will be the first Charleston restaurant to install New York WaterMaker, which engineers water to match New York City’s mineral profile and pH.
“We’ve been thoughtful about every step of this concept — from the research to the name to the creative partnerships,” Thurston said in the release. “Mount Pleasant has a strong appetite for high-quality, approachable dining, and we feel Jimmy Rosso will bring something genuinely new to that landscape.”
Dan Sweeney of Stumphouse will be the architect, Whitney Reitz Designs will design the interior and Outlinewill lead the restaurant’s branding, according to the release. The restaurant will be located in Brickyard Plantation in Mount Pleasant.
