MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Northeast is adding a new Labor and Delivery Unit.

The unit, set to welcome expectant families in January 2025, will enhance access to maternity care in the growing Northeast Columbia region, supporting families with local, high-quality and compassionate care close to home, according to an MUSC news release.

“This new unit represents our commitment to expanding access to top-tier maternity care in Northeast Columbia,” said Matt Littlejohn, CEO of MUSC Health in the Midlands, in the release.. “We are thrilled to bring this essential service to the community and look forward to supporting families as they welcome their newest members.”

The Labor and Delivery Unit, 120 Gateway Corporate Blvd., includes four specialized labor and delivery rooms, eight postpartum recovery rooms, and a fully equipped newborn nursery, each designed to provide a comfortable, safe and supportive environment for mothers and newborns, the release stated.

“Our mission is to continue to focus on growth in communities that need enhanced care for children and women, and we are honored to add this labor and delivery unit to our family.”
