Navy Yard Charleston, a redevelopment project of the former Charleston Naval Base, is adding 55 new townhomes to its mixed-use space.
According a news release, the townhomes will be constructed in a new development called Marine Row at the Navy Yard. The property will be located along St. John Avenue between the Navy Hospital and Storehouse Row.
The townhomes will be constructed by DRB Homes, a national homebuilder which is also constructing a new office in Warehouse 8 of Navy Yard Charleston, the release said.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome DRB Homes to the neighborhood,” Ned Miller, head of development at Navy Yard Charleston, said in the release. “The company not only understands the needs of buyers in the market, but also shares our passion for creating vibrant, well-designed communities. Their team’s ability to deliver unique, high-quality residential products makes them an ideal partner to help us advance the next chapter of Navy Yard Charleston.”
The DRB Homes townhomes will range from 1,600 to 2,000 square feet, the release said.
Other businesses in Navy Yard Charleston include Dwell Somatic Studio, Studio Spa by Madeline, Kravet and Textures, with Second State Coffee, Artis Construction, and Schumacher and Patterson Flynn coming soon, according to the release.
“While there has long been buzz around the Navy Yard Charleston redevelopment, our desire to be involved in it grew with intensity once we engaged with the larger team,” Bennett Rogers, division director of land development for DRB Homes, said in the release. “The long-term vision for the property combined with our love for this market is what attracted us to the site, and we look forward to playing a role in such a pivotal project for the region.”
Construction will begin in Q2 of 2026 with construction staring on the first home in Q2 of 2027, according to the release.
