Lou Kennedy leads Nephron Pharmaceuticals, a Columbia-based manufacturing company with 700 employees. Kennedy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from the University of South Carolina.

Kennedy chairs the Midlands Business Leadership Group and previously chaired SCBIO. She served on Gov. Henry McMaster’s #accelerateSC COVID recovery group and joined the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering Board of Directors in 2019. She serves on Delta Bravo Artificial Intelligence’s board.

Her recognitions include the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce’s 2020 Business Leader of the Year, Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Regional Award and an Outstanding Leadership Award from the National Association of Manufacturers. Former Gov. Nikki Haley honored Kennedy with the Order of the Palmetto.

Kennedy supports arts, education and culture across the Midlands, including Gamecock women’s basketball, USC School of Pharmacy and Wounded Warrior Project.
