Riverbend project breaks ground in Woodruff

Reedy Land Co. and Reedy Commercial celebrated the Oct. 8 groundbreaking for Riverbend, formerly known as Enoree Farms, a 300-acre mixed-use development that will bring the Riverbend Athletic Complex and a new Libertas Charter School to the city of Woodruff and Spartanburg County.

What began as a 30-acre sale from Reedy Land Co. to the city of Woodruff for the development of a recreational facility has evolved into a comprehensive 300-acre public–private partnership, uniting multiple stakeholders to deliver a project that will have a lasting impact on the region, according to a news release.

As the original landowner of Enoree Farms, Reedy Land Co. sold the initial 30 acres to the city for what would become the Riverbend Athletic Complex, a future hub for youth athletics, adult recreational leagues, and community wellness, the news release said. Tripp Taylor and Alex Powell of Reedy brought in True North and GMW Land Holdings, expanding the project’s scope from a single facility to a 300-acre mixed-use development.

Reedy then facilitated the assembly of more than six separate parcels, representing over $4.5 million in land purchases, and worked on both the buyer and seller sides to bring all parties together, the release stated. Beyond the real estate transactions, Reedy has been deeply involved in the pre-development phase, working closely with the city of Woodruff and collaborating with Walt Gild of True North to align timelines, coordinate stakeholders, and advance the project on an accelerated schedule.

The Oct. 8 groundbreaking marks the start of construction on the Riverbend Athletic Complex and Libertas Academy Woodruff, the first tuition-free public charter school serving students in grades 4K–8 in the Woodruff area. These two anchor projects will serve as the foundation for a much larger vision that includes significant road enhancements and future residential development, the release stated. When fully built out, Riverbend is expected to represent a $50 million investment in the community, according to Reedy.
