BMW Manufacturing, Michelin North America Inc., Fluor Corp., Greenville Technical College and Greenville County Schools, in partnership with the Greenville Drive, will host the 11th annual Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Night at Fluor Field on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Held in conjunction with the Greenville Drive game against the Hudson Valley Renegades, AM&E Night is intended to bridge the gap between innovation and opportunity, spotlighting real-world industrial applications and the critical skills required to power them, according to a news release.
All K-12 students are provided access to complimentary tickets while tickets for adults start at $9. To secure K-12 complimentary tickets, visit GreenvilleDrive.com/AME.
“We remain steadfast in our goal to transform the image of Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering in the Upstate,” Greenville Drive President Jeff Brown said in the news release. “For 21 years, the Drive has been part of the fabric of the community, spotlighting and celebrating our region’s most important needs. The need for igniting the passion in young people and the need for qualified workers has never been greater, which is why AM&E Night is more relevant today than ever before.”
This year’s AM&E Night will focus on the convergence of People + Robotics + AI, and how manufacturing organizations and academic partners in our community are working together to pre-skill, re-skill, and up-skill the local workforce, the release said.
“AM&E Night provides an exciting, relevant platform for our BMW Scholars team to demonstrate the innovations occurring in today’s manufacturing environment while also inspiring youth and adults to pursue rewarding careers in robotics, mechatronics, and automotive engineering,” Robert Engelhorn, president and CEO of BMW Manufacturing, said in the release.
Matthew Cabe, president and CEO of Michelin North America, said: “At Michelin, we believe people are at the heart of innovation. That’s why we’re committed to creating opportunities that help individuals build the skills and experience needed to shape the future of manufacturing. Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Night brings together education, industry, and the community to inspire the next generation and show what is possible when people are empowered to explore careers of the future.”
AM&E Night will feature a panel discussion designed for students and families to hear directly from academic and industry leaders about how technology and AI are changing today’s workforce and how students can best position themselves for success. Panelists include Hannah Carmical, general manager of Fluor Corp.’s Greenville campus; Larry Miller, president of Greenville Technical College; Brent McCorkle, industrial director of manufacturing at Michelin North America; and Tom Pabst, director of manufacturing and technical support at GE Vernova.
The panel will be moderated by Alex Estevez, venture partner with Accel Partners.
The Boston Red Sox — the Greenville Drive’s Major League Baseball partner — will also participate, showcasing how analytics and technology are transforming the player development process across professional baseball.
Students who visit each exhibit on the stadium concourse will be admitted into the “Young Innovators Club,” earning them a chance to win exceptional prizes and experiences.
Gates open at 5:45 p.m. The panel discussion begins at 6 p.m. in the 500 Club. First pitch is at 6:45 p.m.
