Amazon opens same-day delivery facility in Dorchester County

Amazon has expanded its first footprint in Dorchester County with a newly opened Same-Day Delivery site in Summerville. 

The 150,000-square-foot facility is located in Jedburg Logistics Park and will create more than 100 full-time jobs for the region starting at $18.50 per hour, according to a news release. 

“We’re proud to join the Summerville community and bring this new delivery facility to Dorchester County,” John Greenlee, site lead of Amazon’s Summerville Same-Day Delivery site, said in the release. “What matters to us is not just the technology or faster deliveries, but also creating good jobs for over 100 local residents. Our team is focused on being reliable neighbors and providing excellent service to customers across the Charleston area. We look forward to being part of this community for years to come.” 

Amazon’s Same-Day facility is intended for speed where employees can pick and pack orders quickly. According to the release, the facility is offering click-to-deliver promises for five hours or less for popular and convenient items.  

Over 120 U.S. metro areas have a Same-Day Delivery facility and Amazon plans to double the Same-Day Delivery sites in the next year, according to the release.
