Join us at the Chamber offices for a special, hands-on cultural experience featuring Karen Horlback, the master artisan behind Momma Maddie’s.
Sweetgrass basket weaving is one of the oldest African-born crafts in the United States, deeply rooted in the history of the South Carolina Lowcountry. Karen will kick off the evening with an intimate, 30-to-45-minute presentation exploring the rich history, generational artistry, and cultural significance of these beautiful baskets.
Following the presentation, Karen will guide you step-by-step through the intricate process of weaving your very own Sweetgrass Rose to take home.
