David L. Richter | BE&K Building Group

BE&K Building Group has appointed David L. Richter, a civil engineer and attorney, as Chief Executive Officer. Richter has 30 years of expertise in leadership, strategic planning, project management, corporate governance, and M&A in the construction industry.

Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Growth Officer at national engineering firm Atwell, where he led a doubling of that firm’s revenue in just four years. Before that he spent 22 years at global construction management firm Hill International, during which time he rose from General Counsel to CEO and Hill’s revenue grew from $20 million to $620 million annually.

Richter earned his B.S. in management, B.S.E. in civil engineering, and J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, his M.Sc. in major program management from the University of Oxford, his M.P.A. from Harvard University, and his M.S. in civil engineering from Columbia University.

He is a licensed Professional Engineer in five states, a certified Project Management Professional, a Certified Construction Quality Manager, and a Chartered Construction Manager. As CEO, he will advance BE&K’s next phase of growth through the company’s commitment to safety, excellence, innovation, client service, and employee development.
