Chapin’s Lake Murray Golf Center sold, phased reopening planned

The Lake Murry Golf Center has new owners who intend to re-open the property in phases, according to a news release from DeWess Real Estate Group.

The Guerry Family Trust sold the Lake Murry Golf Center at 2032 Old Hilton Road in Chapin has been sold to buyers CB Bros Holdings LLC and entrepreneur Benjamin Hooker, a Chapin native and owner of BOHO Pizza and Brew in Lexington.

The sale price was not disclosed.

Broker-in-charge Sam DeWess represented the sellers in the transaction of the 33-acre property.

Phase 1 will include re-opening the driving range and “shack” with a limited food and beverage menu, according to the release. Phase 2 will include re-opening the 9-hole par 3 course and 18-hole putt-putt course. And Phase 3 will include the development of a full-service restaurant that will offer food, live music, and community-focused events.

The golf center will initially re-open under the Lake Murray Golf Center name but a full rebrand is planned for later this year, according to the release. The new name and logo will be created to reflect the golf-focused atmosphere and family-friendly appeal the revitalized property will offer.

“We are so thrilled about the re-opening of the Lake Murray Golf Center and know that this is something the community is really going to get excited about,” DeWees said in the release.
