Manchester Industries expands with Blythewood facility

A company specializing in custom-sheeted paperboard products has leased space at Access 77 in Blythewood with plans to begin operations this year.

Manchester Industries leased 98,280 square feet at the site, a 210,600-square-foot speculative industrial building, according to Colliers South Carolina and Magnus Development Group. The site is within half a mile of Scout Motors’ manufacturing facility.

Manchester Industries is a key player in the paperboard converting sector, according to a news release. Neither the cost of the investment nor the number of jobs created was disclosed.

“Manchester Industries is excited to join the Columbia business community and looks forward to creating new opportunities for local talent,” Chase Bryan, finance manager at Manchester Industries, said in the news release. “Our new Columbia facility strengthens Manchester Industries’ ability to serve customers with greater speed and efficiency. Central South Carolina provides a strategic advantage that aligns perfectly with our commitment to responsiveness.”

Geography makes the area desirable for manufacturing, according to Richland County Council Chair Jesica Mackey.

“We are seeing tremendous growth throughout Richland County, particularly in the northeast, as companies realize the talent and logistics assets available in and surrounding the area,” Mackey said in the release. Mackey also serves as co-chair of the  Columbia Area Development Partnership. “Manchester Industries joins a longstanding history of successful manufacturers at the county’s Northpoint Industrial Park. We look forward to seeing it begin operations and bring new opportunities to citizens.”

Access 77 has approximately 112,320 square feet remaining for lease, according to the release. It is about 1.5 miles from Interstate 77 and home to industrial users such as JTEKT, Constantia Flexibles, PurePower Technologies and Coca-Cola Bottling Co.

“With its new Columbia facility, Manchester Industries is tapping into central South Carolina’s logistical advantages, offering accelerated time-to-market agility,” Chuck Salley, managing director for industrial services at Colliers, said in the release.

Access 77 is part of Magnus Development Partners‘ growing industrial real estate portfolio across the Carolinas. Magnus is a privately held, South Carolina-based real estate developer focused on delivering single-tenant build-to-suits, speculative industrial buildings, acquisitions and advisory services throughout the Southeast and beyond.
