The Medical University of South Carolina has completed three new projects in Orangeburg, led by Mashburn Construction.
According to the new release, MUSC Health Orangeburg, MUSC Orangeburg Medical Arts Building and the Sterile Processing Department were all renovated.
“Healthcare projects continue to be a priority focus for our work across South Carolina,” Richard Kinard, Mashburn Construction executive vice president, said in the release. “We’re expanding our Upfit Division to address a growing need for smaller-scale, high-impact renovation projects—a specialized service that sets us apart in the industry. Our ongoing collaboration with MUSC reflects our shared commitment to improving health outcomes and investing in the communities we serve.”
MUSC Health Orangeburg received a multi-wing renovation, turning the former pediatric space into new adult and behavioral health units. The 6,000-square-foot Empath Unit was designed by Array Architects with updated exam and intake areas, two nurse stations, patient lounges and quiet rooms.
The medical arts building is almost finished with the interior upfit of the second floor, remodeling and updating three suites. Mashburn partnered with Lillibridge Healthcare on the project and architecture was led by Seed Architecture.
The 2,500-spare-food sterile processing department received updated sterilization infrastructure. MUHA and Stantec worked alongside Mashburn on the project, along with architect Josie Abrams.
Mashburn said it is also currently constructing a 13,000-square-foot hybrid facility in Columbia to serve as a free-standing emergency department and urgent care.
