Smalls Sliders, a cheeseburger slider brand backed by former NFL quarterback Drew Brees, has signed a multi-unit development agreement that will bring five locations to the Upstate.
The deal is led by the family-run ownership group Feather & Fries LLC, an experienced operating group with roots in the region, according to a news release. The new locations — which the company calls “cans” as a nod to their shipping container construction — will include development in Spartanburg, Greenville, Anderson and Clemson.
The Feather & Fries team brings a diverse and seasoned business background to the brand, the company says; as multi-unit operators with Zaxbys, they have extensive experience in local market development, team management and community-driven operations. The group recently acquired the Spartanburg can, which opened in 2025, with the four additional locations to come.
“Smalls Sliders represents everything we were looking for in our next venture, an incredible product, a streamlined model, and a brand with genuine energy behind it,” Feather & Fries LLC said in the news release. “This is a family business for us, and we couldn’t be happier to build a lasting legacy across the Upstate region and bring the “smorange” to even more communities.”
Feather & Fries LLC will take an active role in each location’s development and operations, according to the release.
“This operating group brings an impressive combination of restaurant operations and long-term local commitment,” Richard Leveille, vice president of franchising for Smalls Sliders, said in the release. “Their history as successful multi-unit operators, as well as their passion for building family-led businesses, makes them an ideal group to expand Smalls Sliders throughout Upstate South Carolina. We’re confident they’ll make Smalls a standout destination across Greenville, Anderson and Clemson.”
The company did not put a timeline on the completion dates for the new locations.
Smalls Sliders serves fresh, cooked-to-order cheeseburger sliders, seasoned waffle fries, and hand-spun milkshakes from its signature “smorange-colored” shipping containers. Their deliberately simple menu has propelled the brand from its first location in 2019 to more than 375 restaurants open or under development across 30 states, the release said.
Smalls Sliders is the brainchild of restaurateur Brandon Landry and is backed by 10 Point Capital and former New Orleans Saints star Brees, as investors.
