Georgia Mjartan leads the Central Carolina Community Foundation as president and CEO, overseeing an organization with 15 employees that connects philanthropic resources with community needs across the Midlands.

Mjartan earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in political science and English from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock before completing a Master of Science in Political Communication and Public Affairs at the University of Ulster in the United Kingdom. She later received a post-graduate certificate for senior executives in state and local government from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

“Everyone has something to teach and something to learn,” Mjartan said, describing her leadership philosophy.

She serves on multiple boards including Parents As Teachers National Board’s executive committee, United Way of the Midlands and the Post and Courier Education Lab Advisory Board. Her recent board service includes commissioner for Columbia Housing Authority and founder of Columbia Reading Challenge.

Mjartan’s recognition includes being named Southerner of the Year by Southern Living, Woman of Distinction by Girl Scouts of South Carolina and receiving the Golden Apple for Community Impact.
