An advanced materials company will open its first South Carolina manufacturing operation in Greer with a $17.5 million investment. The company says the operation will create 50 new jobs.
According to an announcement from the Greenville Area Development Corp., United Composite Materials LLC will use two existing facilities as specialized manufacturing sites for production of advanced carbon composite material.

The products are produced for the North American sports and leisure composite markets.
The GADC targets companies within select industries that create higher-wage job opportunities than the county’s per capita, and United Composite Materials falls into the advanced materials target industry.
Greenville County has the workforce, infrastructure, research initiatives and collaborative environment necessary to foster businesses in this sector as they develop materials integral to advancing various industries, GADC said in the release.
“We are excited to establish our first South Carolina manufacturing facility in Greenville County,” United Composite Materials CEO Yunho Cho said in the release. “This strategic investment allows us to be closer to our North American customers and leverage the region’s exceptional workforce. We look forward to becoming an integral part of the Greer community.”
The company’s new site is located at 1446 S. Buncombe Road in Greer. Operations are expected to be online in July.
“We are excited to welcome United Composite Materials LLC to Greenville County and the city of Greer,” Greenville County Council Chairman Benton Blount said in the release. “This investment highlights the collaborative environment we have built to support business growth and reinforces Greenville County’s importance to South Carolina’s economy. We look forward to partnering with United Composite Materials as they grow and succeed here.”
Information about the jobs is available at the readySC’s recruitment website.
“We are proud to welcome United Composite Materials to the city of Greer where we have a long history of attracting innovative companies looking to take advantage of our strategic location, strong foundation in advanced manufacturing, and highly skilled workforce,” Greer Mayor Rick Danner said in the release. “This investment reinforces Greer’s role as a hub for industrial innovation and long-term growth.”
“The high-wage job opportunities that United Composites Materials is creating for Greenville County residents, along with its $17.5 million capital investment, will contribute to our community’s economic prosperity and quality of life,” GADA President and CEO Max Stewart said in the release. “Establishing their first South Carolina operation here further positions Greenville County as an ideal place for advanced manufacturers to build and maintain their operations.”
