Denmark Technical College appoints new president and CEO

With nearly two decades of higher education experience, Eric Brown is the next president and CEO of Denmark Technical College.

Brown previously served as the associate vice president for student affairs at the South Carolina Technical College System and vice president of student affairs at Williamsburg Technical College, according to a news release.

“I am honored to join Denmark Technical College at such a pivotal moment in its history,” Brown said. “This institution has a proud legacy of engaging, educating and empowering students, and I look forward to building on that foundation with a transformative vision that will expand opportunities and strengthen the student experience. Together, we will continue moving Denmark Tech forward as a vital gateway to education and workforce success.”

Brown received his Ph.D. from Walden University, his master’s degree in human resource development from Webster University and a political science bachelor’s degree from Clemson University, the release said.

Strategic planning, enrollment management, multimillion-dollar budget oversight, policy development and stakeholder engagement are Brown’s primary expertise. According to the release, he was awarded the SCTEA Administrator of the Year Award.

“Dr. Brown has built his career around helping students succeed and that commitment makes him the right choice for Denmark Technical College,” Kevin Whitt, chairman of the Denmark Technical College Area Commission, said in the release. “We are excited about the new era of growth and opportunity ahead. We are confident the college will thrive under his guidance.”

Prior to Brown’s term, A. Clifton Myles served as interim president with over 32 years of experience in public and higher education.
