Table 301 Hospitality, known for popular eateries like The Lazy Goat, Nose Dive, and Tavola, recently announced the opening of a new fine dining restaurant with a name that is yet to be revealed. The new establishment will be located above The Lazy Goat at 170 Riverplace in downtown Greenville.
A collaboration between Table 301 and Chef Nico Abello, the restaurant is set to bring a touch of Manhattan to Greenville. Abello, who joined Table 301 in 2022, previously opened L’Appart in Manhattan in 2016, which earned a Michelin star for six consecutive years. His new venture will feature a tasting-style menu that changes regularly, reflects his French culinary training and provides diners with a delicious and refined experience.
Abello feels right at home in South Carolina’s upstate region. Having fallen in love with the area after visiting, he and his wife decided to relocate to the area in 2022. Over the past two years, Abello has been crafting curated dining experiences in the area and will continue hosting pop-up dinners leading up to the restaurant’s grand opening later this year.
A glimpse of what’s to come
The Lazy Goat will remain operational during most of the construction, but the upstairs space, previously used for private events, will be transformed into an intimate 50-seat eatery. Floor-to-ceiling windows will offer spectacular views of downtown Greenville’s Reedy River.
“The Lazy Goat may close for a short period for interior updates and kitchen renovations when construction begins this summer,” said spokesperson Brenda Cassabon.
Recent pop-up dinners have offered a preview of what’s to come. Limited to 10 guests, the eight-course tasting menu changes with the seasons. A recent lineup included tuna loin with tandoori yogurt, dehydrated shallots, and cilantro flower; mushroom velouté with toasted hazelnut, Périgourdine sauce, and tarragon; roasted scallops with cauliflower mousseline, caviar, and squid tuile; and roasted shrimp tartare with salmon roe.

And that’s just a bit of what guests enjoyed that evening. Dinner ended on a sweet note with rum-spiced chocolate mousse with passion fruit gel and pine nuts, followed by a final mignardise of pomegranate pistachio and global wine pairings. The new restaurant will follow suit with such pairings, often sourced from lesser-known family vineyards.
According to Cassabon, the new restaurant’s 50 seats are expected to fill quickly, given the popularity of the pop-ups.
Carl Sobocinski, president and founder of Table 301 Hospitality, emphasized that this project has been in development for years.
“We’re excited to partner with Chef Nico on a restaurant that will showcase his Michelin-level talent and push the boundaries of Greenville’s culinary scene,” he said, adding, the new concept will bring an intimate and elevated dining experience to one of downtown Greenville’s most coveted locations.
