We are pleased to announce the May installment of our In the Lead recognition program — In the Lead: Minority-Owned Businesses in South Carolina — recognizing accomplished companies led by minority business owners that demonstrate excellence across a broad spectrum of criteria.

Minority-owned businesses often face unique challenges, including barriers to capital access, disparities in economic opportunities, underrepresentation in leadership networks and systemic inequities that can hinder growth and advancement.

The companies featured here succeed despite these challenges. Many are trailblazers in industries where minority representation has historically been limited. This list was compiled by SCBIZ’s editorial leadership team based in part on recommendations from the community, as well as our own internal research.

To qualify for recognition, a company must be classified as a minority-owned business and based in South Carolina. A franchise or subsidiary of a national company may qualify if the operation is locally owned.

Please join us in congratulating the minority-owned businesses we honor here. We hope you enjoy learning about these companies and their unique stories.

If you know of a company that would be a strong candidate for future inclusion on our In the Lead: Minority-Owned Businesses list, we’d love to hear from you. Visit scbiz.com/in-the-lead-minority-owned-businesses-submission/ to submit a recommendation and tell us about the company you believe should be recognized.
