Greenville Drive, Table 301 partner on restaurant concept next to Fluor Field

The Greenville Drive has partnered with an Upstate hospitality group to launch a restaurant next to Fluor Field in Greenville’s West End.

Aptly named Lefty’s, the restaurant, in partnership with Table 301 Hospitality, will occupy the former Bellwether and Liberty Taproom space 941 South Main St.

The restaurant promises to be a place for handcrafted American pub fare and a casual spot for burgers, wings and nachos gameday or not, with 20 televisions spread throughout the space.

Table 301 Owner Carl Sobocinski is an avid sports fan with a longstanding relationship with the Greenville Drive and owner Craig Brown, according to a news release.

“Right over the left field fence,” Brown said in the release. “That helped influence the name along with the overall sports-orientation of the term, “Lefty.” It felt like a sports bar name, had a casual feel to it, nothing pretentious, and most of all, it felt welcoming.”

The setting for Lefty’s, right next to where the Greenville Drive play, seemed like a natural for a sports bar and restaurant, the release stated. Beyond the Drive, popular college games are played at Fluor Field and the stadium has become a tourist attraction for the ever-increasing number of visitors discovering Greenville.

For Sobocinski, what’s going to make Lefty’s feel different from other sports bars in town is the attention paid to the guests and the food.

“Sports bars tend to focus on the TVs and the beer. We’ll pay attention to those things for sure, but we’re also focusing big time on the quality of the food we serve and the way we treat our guests,” he said. “Many of the menu items will be familiar for a sports bar, but executed at a higher level. We’ll also have a few surprises on the menu. And we’re never going to leave you wondering where your server went.”

The partnership between the Drive and Table 301 grew from the relationship Brown and Sobocinski developed over the years as two of the most committed philanthropists in the area, the release stated. Both men and their organizations have contributed generously to the community over the years and both are celebrating 20th anniversaries this year. For Brown, it’s the 20th anniversary of the Greenville Drive. And for Sobicinski, it’s the 20th year of euphoria, the hugely successful food and wine festival he conceived and launched.

“Folks of all ages can come together, enjoy a great meal, some refreshing drinks, watch a game or two, be treated well and feel a part of Team Greenville just by being here,” Brown said.
