MUSC Health opens 24/7 medical pavilion on Johns Island

MUSC Health opened its new Kiawah Partners Pavilion in Johns Island, serving the Sea Island communities.  

The facility will begin accepting patients on Dec. 18 and be open 24 hours a day with a freestanding emergency room, trauma and triage rooms, imaging and radiology services, on-site laboratory, helipad and medical offices for other patient services. 

“This ribbon-cutting is more than an opening. It’s a promise to deliver exceptional care close to home. With the area’s first freestanding emergency room and expanded access to primary, cardiology, and vascular services, we’re proud to bring world-class care to this community,” MUSC president Dr. David J. Cole said in the release. “With the nearest hospital more than 20 miles away and a surge of seasonal tourists, this facility fills a critical gap by ensuring timely access to health care services.” 

The Kiawah Partners Pavilion is part of four new MUSC Health multispecialty ambulatory care centers that have opened since 2019 through West Ashley, North Charleston and Mount Pleasant. Other freestanding emergency rooms are expected in 2026 and 2027.  

South Street Partners, a private equity real estate investment firm, is the owner of Kiawah Partners, the master developer of residential properties on . 

“This project was born out of a shared belief that every community should have access to quality health care. For more than a decade, we’ve been working towards making that a reality for the ,” Chris Randolph, managing partner at South Street Partners, said in the release.  “Donating the land for the MUSC Health Kiawah Partners Pavilion was an affirmation of our commitment to these communities, and we’re deeply proud to partner with such an exceptional health care provider to realize this incredible achievement, which has been years in the making.”
