National ‘rage room’ experience expands to first Charleston location

Walking into most businesses to smash things is typically frowned upon. In this new Charleston business, it’s encouraged.

A national rage room from New York called iSmash signed a lease for its first South Carolina location in James Island and will be locally owned, according to a news release. 

The rage room will open in late August with options for customers to splatter paint, throw axes and break everything in the rage room, the release said. iSmash will have packages from induvial tickets to 15-person parties.

Owner Amanda Edwards has deep experience in sales, marketing and operations, according to the release. She also leans into the experience she gained as part of the U.S. Air Force for eight-plus years, which included Airmen of the Year honors in 2004, the release stated.

“Our goal is to create a space where everyone can let loose like never before,” Edwards said in the release. “This is such a vibrant, fast-growing area, and I saw a real opportunity to invite people to unplug, destress and just have fun. iSmash is about more than just entertainment, it’s about giving people a healthy outlet for stress and a memorable experience to share with friends, coworkers or family.”

The rage room will be located at 1291 Folly Road and provide all equipment needed for customer rage. According to the release, all ages over 3 years old are able to use the splatter paint, with an 8-year-old minimum for the rage rooms.
