Florida-based internet provider Wire 3 is investing $36 million to expand into South Carolina for the first time, starting in Anderson.

The 100% fiber internet company has begun construction in the service area, soon to provide access for about 35,000 residents and businesses. Wire 3 said services are likely to be up by fall of this year.

“When we looked at opportunities in South Carolina, Anderson immediately stood out,” Jai Ramachandran, Wire 3 CEO, said in a news release,. “This is a community with strong local pride, a growing economy, and a vision for the future. We’re excited to bring our fiber network to Anderson and provide the fast, reliable internet service that residents and businesses deserve. We believe great connectivity strengthens communities, and we’re proud to ensure that Anderson will be wired for good.”

As construction is underway, residents in the serviced areas will see Wire 3 crews with identification and branded vehicles. Communication about signing up will also be distributed.  The company plans to branch out from Anderson into Pickens County, the release said.

Wire 3 expanded from Daytona Beach, Fla., into Georgia before its foray into South Carolina. Customers will have access to free Wi-Fi equipment and plans without contracts.
