Charlotte-based First Bank has made some leadership changes in the Upstate market.

Chris Robinson has been appointed as the region’s top executive, which marks a pivotal moment for First Bank’s expansion in the Upstate, according to a news release. He is charged with leading the team of commercial bankers and other team members to maintain and build relationships with businesses.

While First Bank is a relative newcomer to the Upstate banking landscape, the 90-year legacy of First Bank throughout the Carolinas provides a strong foundation, the release stated. Robinson’s experience in banking coupled with First Bank’s reputation and history positions the team to prove themselves in the Upstate market, the release stated. Born and raised in Greenville, Robinson has 17 years of banking experience, multiple leaderships roles for various causes and the institutional knowledge of the Upstate.

Along with Robinson, the branch teams are now being led by Karen Smith, who will manage the branches located in the area, will provide overarching leadership, fostering a unified vision and ensuring consistent performance across all branches, the release stated. Her exceptional motivation and ability to empower branch managers will be crucial in driving efficiency, enhancing customer experience, and maximizing the collective potential of these locations, the release stated.

“This is a powerful dynamic duo in the area. We are very excited for Greenville and the entire region and what Karen and Chris can do along with all of their teams,” Rusty Edwards, regional executive for Asheville and the Upstate, said in the release. “We have a lot to offer and a big heart for our communities and these two, along with their dedicated team members, are going to highlight that and show that First Bank talks the talk and walks the walk.”

The First Bank team’s commitment extends far beyond the workplace; it is deeply invested in the communities it serves, the release stated. A prime example is the gifts given to those donors at the recent Meals on Wheels 30th Anniversary Sweetheart Charity Ball event. Each $1,000-plus donor received a handmade salt jar, crafted by a local artist, proving a commitment to local.

“We believe in building strong relationships and fostering a sense of togetherness, and look forward to seeing familiar faces and creating new connections at these wonderful community gatherings,” Robinson said.
