OneSpartanburg releases Talent Gap Analysis 2.0

In partnership with Lightcast, an authority on labor-market dynamics, OneSpartanburg Inc. on Oct. 20 released the Talent Gap Analysis 2.0, a strategic framework for the community that identifies interactions and next-level partnerships.

The Talent Gap Analysis 2.0, informed by community representatives serving on OneSpartanburg Inc.‘s Talent Council, is a comprehensive, skills-based analysis with strategy suggestions focused on four core sectors in Spartanburg County: manufacturing, transportation and warehousing, healthcare and social assistance, and hospitality.

The report, commissioned by OneSpartanburg Inc. and conducted by Lightcast, builds on a study released in 2022 with a deeper occupational workforce pipeline review, more addressing of talent supply-demand dynamics, and strategic recommendations to boost the county’s economic competitiveness, according to a news release.

“The Talent Gap Analysis 2.0 is a tool designed to help industry leaders, business representatives and educators understand the background of talent demographic considerations, and the document on the whole reinforces work and initiatives outlined and supported by the OneSpartanburg ,” said OneSpartanburg Inc. Chief Talent Officer Ron Garner, in the release.

Key recommendations from the Vision Plan 2.0 contained within the Talent Gap Analysis 2.0 are, according to the release:

College Affordability: the report supports continued alignment of scholarship programs with labor-market needs, and reducing barriers to .

College and Career Connections: the report advocates for improved exposure to the for K-12 students work-based learning. The report also calls for a universal portal where high school and college students can connect with employers for internships and other work-based learning opportunities.

Adult Degree Completions: the report outlines where talent gaps occur across critical occupations, which will further connect individuals restarting their college-degree journey through Re:Degree to career opportunities countywide.

Talent Marketing and Attraction: the report outlines where supply gaps occur and how they can impact talent-attraction efforts. It also identifies markets with higher costs-of-living and lower salaries as target areas from which to attract talent by sector.

“We’ve rolled the Talent Gap Analysis 2.0 out to investors businesses across Spartanburg County to expand the light the report shines on our county’s labor market of the present, and of the future,” said Taylor Dement, OneSpartanburg Inc. director of talent solutions, in the release. “Our team is eager to work with employers of all types across Spartanburg to strengthen our talent ecosystem and its pipelines.”
