The new Taylors Fire Headquarters stands as a modern symbol of emergency response capability and community pride at the intersection of Wade Hampton Boulevard and Main Street in Taylors. Completed in December 2024, the $5.85 million facility replaces a 1980 headquarters across the street and serves as the gateway to the heart of Taylors.

The 23,050-square-foot headquarters features three drive-thru apparatus bays and one back-in bay, designed to support a crew of 30 firefighters with individual dorms, dayroom, kitchen and fitness room. A separate 4,450-square-foot fleet maintenance building provides on-site vehicle servicing capabilities, giving Taylors Fire & Rescue greater control over operational readiness.

DP3 Architects partnered with Hogan Construction Group using the Construction Manager At-Risk delivery method. The collaborative approach began after programming and concept design were complete in 2018, though the project was halted pending district restructuring before resuming in 2023.

The facility incorporates innovative health and safety features, including air scrubbers in apparatus bays to minimize carcinogen exposure from engine emissions. Integrated training features throughout the building allow firefighters to practice without leaving the facility, while a flexible community meeting and training room serves both departmental needs and regional collaboration.

The architectural design references Taylors’ industrial heritage through materials and forms that echo the historic Southern Bleachery Mill and Enoree River train trestle. The building combines four structural systems — conventional steel, wood framing, pre-engineered metal buildings and prefabricated canopies — optimizing construction efficiency while maintaining aesthetic goals.
