The mission for SCBIZ is to the stories that shape South Carolina’s business landscape — the innovators building industries, the executives creating opportunity, the entrepreneurs taking risks, and the leaders whose decisions leave a lasting mark on our state.
But some leaders deserve more than coverage. They deserve celebration.
That is why we are proud to introduce the inaugural SCBIZ ICON Honors.
This new recognition program was created with purpose: to honor South Carolina business leaders age 60 and older whose careers have not only achieved notable success, but whose leadership, mentorship, and influence have helped shape the business community we know today.
“Across South Carolina, there are individuals whose names carry weight not because of titles alone, but because of what they have built, how they have led, and the example they have set for others. They are the leaders who have guided organizations through change, created jobs, strengthened communities, mentored future generations, and contributed to the long-term success of our state,” SCBIZ Managing Director Suzanne Fischer-Huettner said. “We believe those legacies deserve to be recognized.”
SCBIZ made the strategic decision to launch ICON Honors because honoring these individuals align with who we are as a publication: a trusted voice for South Carolina business and a platform committed to recognizing the people driving it forward.
This is more than an awards program. It is a tribute to leadership that lasts.
On Sept. 22, 2026, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, we will gather to celebrate the inaugural class of ICON Honorees — leaders whose impact has stood the test of time and whose stories deserve to be shared.
Now, we invite you to help us identify them.
Do you know a leader whose career has shaped South Carolina business? A mentor whose influence extends beyond the boardroom? A visionary whose contributions deserve statewide recognition?
Because recognition matters. Stories matter. Legacy matters.
Together, we can ensure the leaders who helped build South Carolina’s business future receive the honor they have earned — and become the names our state remembers.
We look forward to celebrating them with you.
