Trident United Way adds to its C-suite

A Lowcountry nonprofit has added to its executive team.

Trident United Way has appointed Andrew Shelton as chief financial officer. In this role, Shelton will oversee the organization’s financial strategy, planning and operations, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission to advance for families throughout Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties, according to a news release.

Shelton brings more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit and public sector financial management, according to the release. Most recently, he served as financial director at Palmetto Goodwill from May 2021 until his transition to Trident United Way. Prior to that, he was finance director for the town of Summerville from March 2019 through May 2021, following his role as assistant finance director for the town from January 2016 to March 2019.

From October 2009 to January 2016, Shelton worked at WebsterRogers LLP, a leading regional accounting and consulting firm, where he honed his expertise in audit and financial services, according to the release. Earlier in his career, Shelton served as an auditor at the South Carolina State Auditor’s Office from January to October 1999.

Shelton holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from the College of Charleston, graduating in 1997.
