Basic Kitchen in downtown Charleston now has two new owners running the show.
Basic Kitchen’s Charlie Layton, executive chef, and Eva Suarez, director of operations, have stepped up to the role of operating partners. The restaurant said the pair will have partial ownership and lead the restaurant in daily operations.

“Basic Kitchen has always been about creating honest food that makes people feel good,” Suarez said in the release. “Charlie and I are excited to carry this mission forward into the next chapter and feel very lucky to be doing so with such a passionate team, both front and back of house.”
Located at 82 Wentworth St. in downtown Charleston, Basic Kitchen opened in 2017 by founders Ben and Kate Towill.

According to the news release, Suarez played a role in the opening of the restaurant and has expertise in hospitality operations, business and community engagement. Layton joined later from England, crafting the
menu they have today.
“I am so excited to see my great friends, Eva and Charlie, become partners in Basic Kitchen, as they have been so instrumental in its success, and I look forward to seeing Basic Kitchen’s next chapter under their leadership,” Ben Towill said in the release.
Basic Kitchen is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
