The Medical University of South Carolina named a new chief communications and marketing officer.

MUSC said Pete Hull will direct communications and marketing strategy for the health care organization, beginning the role on Feb. 2, according to a news release. Prior to the position with MUSC, Hull served as vice president of public affairs and chief marketing and communications officer for Florida Atlantic University.
“Peter brings extensive experience in enterprise marketing and communications leadership to MUSC,” Dr. David Cole, president of MUSC, said in the release. “His ability to develop and execute exceptional marketing and communications programs will be an essential part of achieving our goal of becoming a leading academic health system.”
MUSC said while at FAU, he oversaw internal and external communications, media relations, social media, marketing and advertising, presidential communications and research and health communications.
Hull also spent six years as communications and marketing director for economic development at Clemson University, where he managed all communication strategies for Clemson campuses in South Carolina from North Charleston. MUSC said Hull also worked in Lowcountry journalism with The Island Packet and The Post and Courier.
Hull earned his degree from Croydon College in London, England, and a Master of Arts from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.
