Novant Health opens its first freestanding ED in Clements Ferry

Novant Health, headquartered in Winston-Salem, N.C., opened the doors to its Clements Ferry emergency department, offering 10,500 square feet of medical space.  

The freestanding ED is open every day, all day. Patients will have access to advanced imaging, laboratory services and emergency treatment for illnesses and injuries, a news release said.  

“Growing communities rely on essential services growing alongside them,” Kirsten Royster, Novant Health’s Charleston area president, said in the release. “The opening of the Novant Health Clements Ferry Emergency Department reflects our continued commitment to expanding access to remarkable care where people live, work and raise their families. We’re proud to invest in the health care infrastructure needed to support this area today and for years to come.” 

The ED is located at 960 Charleston Regional Parkway and is designed to serve Daniel Island, Cainhoy, Point Hope and other Clements Ferry corridor communities.  

The release said the location was picked according to population growth, traffic patterns and road infrastructure in the region. It is the first Novant Health freestanding ED in the Charleston region, with another under construction in Summerville. 

“In an emergency, every minute matters,” Theresa Lynn, Novant Health Clements Ferry Emergency Department manager, said in the release. “For many families in this area, having emergency care nearby means they can receive treatment without having to cross a bridge before reaching an emergency department. We’re honored to provide trusted, around-the-clock care close to home when our community needs us most.”
