United Bank has promoted a new president to lead the Charleston market.
United Bank said Hannah Gurtis will lead commercial and retail production, growth in the market and serve in a leadership role for managing public relations. The market will include eight locations across Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties.
“Charleston is a dynamic market with tremendous business and community development opportunities,” Gurtis said in a news release. “United has made significant strides since entering the region five years ago, and I look forward to building on that momentum by further strengthening our relationships and expanding our impact across the community. I am excited for the opportunity to lead such a talented, dedicated team and to serve this remarkable market as president.”
Gurtis has spent nine years in the banking industry with United Bank beginning in West Virginia. She has risen from an analyst role to commercial portfolio manager to her current market president role, being recognized as one of Charleston Business Magazine’s 2025 Best and Brightest 35 and Under.
“Hannah has been a tremendous asset to United. Her leadership and community engagement have strengthened new and existing relationships across the Charleston Market,” Marshall Cooper, United Bank regional president, said in the release. “She was instrumental in our entry into the region, and we are excited to see her lead the market forward in this expanded leadership role.”
On her personal time, Gurtis teached Sunday school at Seacoast Church and participates in the Urban Land Institute, the Carolina Contractors Association and the Charleston Chamber of Commerce, according to United Bank.
