Goodwyn Mills Cawood, an and firm with an office at , plans to add more than 3,800 square feet to its Greenville office, increasing the space from approximately 10,000 to 13,800 square feet.

The project will add approximately 30 workstations and collaborative space, creating room for future staff while enhancing how GMC’s Greenville team works together, the company said in a news release.

The new space will also feature updated conference rooms, an enhanced interiors workroom, a materials library and a dedicated project center where teams can build and collaborate on physical project models, the release said.

“Our team loves calling this office home,” Kevin Laird, GMC executive vice president of engineering, said in the release. “Being at The Commons gives us the opportunity to enjoy the park throughout the day, right along the Swamp Rabbit Trail, and we’ve loved working on projects nearby, like Mayberry Field at Unity Park. Staying at The Commons allows us to continue growing our Greenville team while remaining in a place that’s become an important part of our culture.”

Since relocating its Greenville office to The Commons in 2022, GMC has experienced continued growth and new opportunities across the Carolinas, the firm says. The additional space will allow them to meet Goodwyn Mills Cawood’s current needs while planning for future growth.

Owned and managed by Aston of Charlotte, The Commons is home to a mix of local restaurants, retail businesses and office tenants, including GMC.

“GMC’s decision to invest further in its Greenville office speaks to the strength of both their team and the community we’ve worked to create at The Commons,” said Barnes Connell, managing director of Aston. “We’re proud they’ve chosen to continue building their future here, and we look forward to supporting their success for years to come.”

Construction is expected to begin this month, with GMC planning to occupy the new space by January.

Goodwyn Mills Cawood, headquartered in Montgomery, Ala., is one of the largest architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast.
