MUSC ranked best hospital in South Carolina; top 13% nationally

U.S. News & World Report named the Medical University of South Carolina the No. 1 hospital in South Carolina, holding the title for 11 years.

Each of the 4,400 hospitals ranked by the publication are measured by its survival rates, complication rates, patient experience and level of nursing care, according to a news release. Decisions are also made with data from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, American Hospital Association, professional organizations and medical specialists. 

As South Carolina’s only public statewide hospital system, MUSC Health is honored to be recognized as the state’s top hospital for the eleventh consecutive year,? Ranked among the top 13% nationally, MUSC had 25 programs considered ‘high performing’ in the U.S. News & World Report rankings. According to the release, MUSC Health’s Obstetrics and Gynecology program was No. 16 in the nation, previously placed in the 30th spot.

Charleston had 17 high performance divisions, with six in the Midlands and four in the Pee Dee region, the release said.
