Cassy Electric is a women-owned family electrical contractor serving the upstate of South Carolina in both residential and commercial spaces.
Cassandra “Cassy” Brayboy began her career through a high school electrical apprenticeship in Brooklyn, New York and later joined the union. After moving to South Carolina, she started Cassy Electric as a small side business. In 2020, her daughter Ebony Robinson Austin joined to assist with succession planning. Together they recognized the opportunity to grow the company and build a lasting family legacy.
Early on, Cassy Electric operated as a small hobby business with no digital presence and relied heavily on word-of-mouth referrals. Access to funding was also challenging as a woman- and minority-owned business. Over time, the company developed a strong brand, expanded into new markets, and now serves residential, commercial, and government clients.
Cassy Electric plans to stay competitive by continuing to invest in workforce development, building strategic partnerships, and expanding its capabilities. As infrastructure and technology evolve, the company aims to support larger commercial projects while remaining flexible and responsive to industry changes.
Community impact is central to Cassy Electric’s mission. Brayboy founded Just For Today Recovery, a nonprofit that supports women battling addiction and homelessness. Through both the business and nonprofit efforts, the company is committed to uplifting the community and creating opportunities for others.
