Robert McLeod grew up working on his family farm in McBee, where he developed a deep appreciation for plants and the outdoors. After years of drought made farming unsustainable, he moved to Lexington and started Heritage, combining his agricultural expertise and his entrepreneurial spirit. Robert often describes himself as an “urban farmer” bringing his passion for nurturing the land to the landscaping industry. His wife, Debbie, was a talented designer and helped create beautiful landscapes.
Today, the business is co-owned and led by Ashley McLeod, Robert’s son, and Kleck Harman, who married Robert’s daughter Carey. The third generation is also getting involved, with Ashley’s and Kleck’s sons gaining hands-on experience across various roles within the company.
Heritage continues to embrace new ways to make their operations smarter, actively investing in the latest landcare innovations to best serve their clients’ needs. “Our professional teams are our greatest asset. This year, we are investing significantly in advanced training and certification programs. This means our team will be even more adept at using the latest sustainable practices, diagnosing complex landscape issues, and implementing innovative, long-lasting solutions.”
