During the Great Recession, Prince led communications for a well-known real estate developer. She’d just given birth to her first child and was one of only two women — and the sole mother — in a 50+ member senior leadership team. It was the right time to make a change. Two days after resigning, a reputable local company needed strategic guidance about how to market resourcefully through the downturn but couldn’t afford big-agency fees. Flourish was born in that moment.
“Having never worked for an agency, I built Flourish from a blank slate, in some ways that seemed antithetical to the way ‘it had always been done.’ As it turned out, many of those decisions benefited us in the end,” she said.
As Prince leads her business into the future, AI is changing many aspects of how they do business.
“I believe we must not only adapt, but embrace, the movement toward successfully incorporating AI, and we should be encouraging — and educating — our clients to do so as well,” she said. “Having said that, certain services we provide and tactics we employ will continue to be authentically human.”
