Chief Audit Executive
United Community
What are you most looking forward to in your new position?
As I step into my role as Chief Audit Executive, I am eager to further strengthen the Internal Audit function as the third line of defense for the bank, helping to ensure appropriate risk management, governance, and operational control practices are in place. My focus is on fostering a high performing culture that is fulfilling for our colleagues and refining our audit processes to ensure that they not only meet regulatory standards but also drive meaningful improvements across the organization.
What is the biggest challenge facing your industry right now?
As an Internal Auditor in the banking industry, one of our greatest challenges is keeping pace with the rapidly evolving landscape both within our organization and across the financial sector. The rise of AI, increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, and ongoing regulatory shifts are a few examples of topics that demand Internal Audit remains agile and well informed. This will help us to ensure the organization maintains a control structure that effectively mitigates emerging risks – ensuring compliance and fostering operational resilience in an era of unprecedented transformation.
What was your first job, and what did you learn from it?
My first job in high school involved working various roles within the restaurant industry, an experience that shaped my work ethic and professional mindset in invaluable ways. Food service operates in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment where efficiency, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills are essential. Navigating the demands of this industry helped me develop resilience, sharpen my ability to work under pressure, and truly appreciate the power of teamwork in achieving success.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever heard?
One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received is to seek out trusted mentors — individuals who can provide wisdom, perspective, and guidance across both professional and personal aspects of life. Throughout my journey, I have intentionally sought mentors whom I admire and respect, and their candid advice, encouragement, and accountability have been invaluable. Their experiences have helped shape my decisions, challenged my thinking, and provided the support needed to navigate key moments in my career and personal growth. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone to find mentors who inspire and push them toward success.
What is something most people would be surprised to know about you?
I’m a proud Greenville native, born and raised in a city that has experienced tremendous growth and transformation. As Greenville continues to thrive and attract new residents, lifelong natives have become increasingly rare. That’s why I’m especially excited to join a dynamic and growing organization headquartered right here in Greenville, and I look forward to contributing to its success and being part of its continued story.
